Today we’re going to dive into the 5 questions to ask yourself to understand better what your purpose might be.
Many people become blocked when setting out on this path of self-discovery because they do not know where to begin looking. Nobody has ever explained to them where to look if they want to re-encounter the inner part that contains their purpose.
However, taking the first steps is not as complicated as it may seem, it just means asking yourself the right questions and answering straight from the heart, leaving aside any fears, restrictive thoughts, and social expectations.
These are the five questions that have helped me a lot in finding my purpose. I hope you find them useful as well and help you gain clarity.

If money was not an issue and you had all the time in the world, what would you do?
To answer this first question, close your eyes if you can, take a few breaths, as deep as you can, and then visualize what you would do, trying to answer right from the heart.
Feel free to vividly imagine what you would be doing in this situation, what you would feel, who you would be with, what you would like to be, how you would act, and so on.
By answering this question, several things may happen:
If your answer aligns closely with your current lifestyle, it suggests you are living your purpose. You're passionate about your activities and consistently express your unique talents.
Your answer may partly resemble your present situation, yet you harbor uncertainties. In this case, there's a need to seek equilibrium between what genuinely ignites your passion and what doesn't.
If your response bears little or no resemblance to your daily life, it indicates a significant distance from fulfilling your purpose.
Whatever the answer may be, the interesting part of this exercise is discovering that your true desire might be to pursue something entirely different in your life, even if you haven't reached that point yet.
This visualization exercise can then provide you with clues, helping guide you on the path toward your purpose.
What are your natural talents?
Answering this question can be challenging because the activities you perform with utmost ease are often so ingrained in you that you may not recognize them as your natural talents.
Indeed, it's common to become aware of these abilities only when others highlight or praise them, underscoring how seamlessly they're integrated into your being.
When answering this question, we usually have in our mind a preconceived idea about what it means to have talent. This is something that Sahara Rose explains very clearly in her book Discover Your Dharma. Book that I highly recommend.
In this book, she mentions that when we think about talent, the first thing that comes to mind are people who clearly stand out in painting, singing, acting, dancing, and so on.
If we do not fit into any of these categories, we might conclude that we lack any special talent.
This suggests that talent is perceived as being limited to certain activities that receive societal praise and recognition, especially those celebrated on television programs.
But in reality, talent does not have to be anything like that. In fact, in the majority of cases, the talents of each person manifest themselves daily in small and ordinary actions.
It could be that your natural talent is creating beauty through decoration, empathizing with others, looking after those around you, making people laugh, being meticulous, combining items of clothing, telling stories, organizing, planning, cooking, easily understanding what numbers express, swimming, understanding animals, assembling things, writing and a long etcetera of talents that are as varied as there are people on this planet.
BUT, the KEY is that each person has a unique talent and a form of expressing it that is so individual and special that no one else in the world has it. And it is precisely there where the first key of what you have come to this world to do is found.
When your natural talent combines with your particular form of displaying it, this is when you give life to your inner truth, when you give form to your deepest inner self and bring magic to everything that you do.
In the end, we are all artists of our lives and we are here to shape our own particular path following the purpose that our soul has come to reach here on Earth.
Following this path may involve a variety of actions such as writing, singing, dancing, teaching, designing, analyzing, producing, coaching, organizing, blogging, etcetera, and it is your function to discern which medium flows most naturally within you and use it to manifest your purpose in life.
What are your passions?
Your passions were given to you as a gift and are a powerful sign of what your soul has come here to do.
To identify them, think about those activities that you do out of pure pleasure because you enjoy them and they make you feel good and fill you with energy every time you do them.
In the majority of cases, these activities usually match your hobbies, both current and past.
On occasions, as you advance through life and you become an adult, it is easy to forget what your true passions are. It is quite normal to fill your time with activities that are perhaps better accepted or valued in your surroundings, gradually forgetting about your passions.
So, when you take up those activities that fill you with excitement and emotion again, something magical happens inside.
Suddenly, you reawaken that part that was sleeping inside. The part of you that is the authentic you. And so begins a process of internal alignment between your life and your soul.
It is not unusual to realize that, despite the passage of years, you can still play basketball just as well as you once did. Your memory retains every trick on a skateboard.
Similarly, it feels as though it was only yesterday that you were last on a surfboard, and drawing still brings a smile to your face. Additionally, dancing continues to make you feel special, and singing remains a joy that lights up your heart
This is nothing more than your soul beginning to talk to you again through these activities that form an essential part of your inner self.
The most beautiful thing about re-discovering these passions when you are older, after years of not doing them, is that you return to these activities from a different perspective and you find a new meaning for yourself and your life in them.
You understand that even though deep down you are the same unchanging truth of your soul, in the outermost part you realize that you are not the same person as you were years ago when doing these activities.
You are a different person, you have matured, evolved, and also acquired many more layers, which sometimes do not allow you to walk freely through life.
During the process of once again including the things that make you feel good in your life, you are beginning to once more open your heart to your purpose.
You are gradually once again beginning to listen to your inner truth.
An inner truth resonates more deeply when you are young, a time when you are more inclined to listen to your authentic self. This often led to actions that left your parents or friends in awe or disbelief.
Simply put, during those years, you were truly embracing your uniqueness. You expressed your authenticity through distinctive ways of acting and engaging with the world.
Reconnecting with your passions in your life will cause a domino effect on your days, filling them with more happiness, self-confidence, positivity, and giving you the strength you need to begin powerful and permanent changes.
If you have any doubts about this and you do not know how to identify what your passions are, just remember those things that made you feel good when you were a child and begin doing those activities again, without thinking whether they are the most appropriate activities or fill you with the most passion.
Simply begin heading in that direction.
Your soul will gradually guide you towards those activities that increase your vibrational state to the maximum. You just have to let yourself be guided by intuition and what you feel lights your inner fire again.
Let yourself be guided by the emotions you feel inside and ignore the significance and seriousness, just learn to be comfortable playing and having fun in this game in which you are beginning to once again listen to what your soul wants from you.
This is where the most precious gifts that you will find in your life can be found, and these will lead you toward your purpose, and your inner calling.
What obstacles have you overcome?
Every day you overcome obstacles. Sometimes they are big, sometimes they are small, but there are always obstacles that you deal with and overcome throughout your life.
Many people think about significant traumatic events when asked this question.
They think about the stories of people who, after experiencing fairly traumatic events or even very tragic ones in their life—or those in which they perhaps suffered the greatest catastrophes of humanity first hand—had to undergo an enormous exercise of personal growth.
It was through this profound transformation that they found the great purpose of their life, and in fact, they are known for it.
However, although this is indeed the path of some people, it does not mean that the obstacles are only these types of events.
These obstacles can have a thousand faces depending on the person suffering them and their context.
Some may find obstacles in the fact of not being able to get up every morning when the alarm first goes off, for others it could be not having the ability to talk to the person they like; for others, it could be a fear of cats, for others not having sufficient willpower to stop eating that chocolate croissant in the mid-afternoon; for others, perhaps it is feeling caught in the middle of a downward spiral and depression without there being any apparent significant cause, etcetera.
Whatever the obstacle, none is bigger or more important than another, all of them have great importance to the person suffering them at that time.
Learning to remove that stereotype that we have of what should be considered true obstacles or not, is key to understanding that every one of us has the capacity and overcome obstacles every day to continue evolving in life.
So much so that when overcoming these obstacles, you become an expert in them because you focus all your interest on them and on overcoming them.
It is within this constant learning process of overcoming obstacles that you find clues about what you are destined to be and do in your life.
Would you like to share it with others?
It is important to clarify that your purpose is not really about perfecting your passions or explaining the obstacles you have overcome.
It is rather understanding what makes you feel good during this process of re-finding yourself, what it is that you would really like to share with the world.
In my case, I love doing yoga every day, it is one of my great passions, but I know it is not my calling to become a yoga teacher and spend hours of my day giving classes on a mat.
In the same way, you can have certain passions that are simply there because they have the function of increasing your vibrational state, but not because they are called to be your purpose by themselves.
Your purpose is more likely to be something you would like to share with others but at times have felt embarrassed or afraid to do so.
It is precisely there, where you should begin to investigate to see how this activity may relate to your purpose in life.
In the end, finding your purpose is nothing more than being open to the path that is gradually revealed before you, learning to listen to your intuition more and more, and uncovering those small gems and treasures that your soul has been showing you to guide you towards your purpose here on Earth.
