It's okay to not be okay

November 02, 20232 min read

I wanted to share this encouraging message with you because I really feel we all need to hear these words every now and then.

Personally, I used to feel really guilty when I wasn’t feeling okay.

Guilty of having everything in my life –a husband I adore, two wonderful kids, a house, a job I love doing, and so on… – and still having days where I just… didn’t feel okay!

But at some point, I started to realize that the fact of not feeling okay…

Didn’t really mean that I wasn’t being grateful for the things I already had in my life…

It just meant that I needed to pay attention to my inner self.

To what my soul was telling me at that moment.

So I’m here to tell you. Artist to artist. That it’s okay to NOT be okay. That we have these ups and downs – that others may not understand– because it is part of our creative process.

Because it is actually in those moments of darkness when we are able to find our deepest truths and channel them through our art for the world to see.

As artists, this is what we are called to do.

To transform any obstacle we find in our journey and share it with the world to make it a better place. To inspire others and uplift humanity along the way.

And yes… I know I might be sounding a bit cliché…. But I don’t care! Because I know that this is true, as cliché as it sounds.

Not feeling okay it’s just part of life. We need to experience the dark clouds in order to really cherish the sun.

We just need to learn how to navigate the downs with understanding and kindness towards ourselves.

Accepting the negative feelings, instead of resisting them, and from that state of calmness ask our soul “what is it that you’re trying to tell me?”.

When you open up that communication channel with yourself you feel freer and empowered because you understand that even those bad moments are part of YOUR journey and they DO have a purpose…

Which always is making you grow and advance in your life, although at the moment it might seem impossible to see the bright side.

I don’t know which moment of your journey you are in now…

BUT if you are NOT feeling OKAY,  just remember that those clouds are there for a reason…

And the answer is in YOU…

IN THE ARTIST YOU ARE WITHIN.
